Multicultural
Since the days of the pioneers, Shreveport-Bossier City's culture has been a blend of Anglos and African-Americans. Today, growing diversity of the population is becoming unmistakably apparent. The Spanish-speaking population is burgeoning and the Asian community's distinct growth is symbolized in the Municipal Plaza Park, one devoted to Asian icons. The Multicultural Center of the South, downtown, astounds visitors with nearly 30 unique cultural displays of northwest Louisiana. Cultural programs and ongoing art displays at the Multicultural Center mean there's always a new facet of the region's cultures to explore.
There are many great festivals that celebrate the area's diversity. Be sure to experience the food, music and art of Cinco de Mayo, Let the Good Times Roll, Mudbug Madness, Mardi Gras and Pioneer Days.
