On one end of the musical spectrum is the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra. It has performed for 60 seasons. The Shreveport Opera, too, is a vibrant source of music.

Today, residents are proud of guitarists James Burton - of Elvis' TCB Band and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame - and million-selling blues rocker Kenny Wayne Shepherd. This is a city of eclectic offerings in music.

Not to be forgotten is the Louisiana Hayride (Elvis and Hank), the great songwriters Huddie Leadbelly Ledbetter ("Goodnight, Irene") and Jimmie Davis ("You are my Sunshine"), a singer who became a governor.
